What is “AI slop”?
“AI slop” refers to low-quality, mass-produced content generated by artificial intelligence. Often absurd, shocking, or even racist, these short videos are not designed to please but to capture attention—even if only for a few seconds.

Will AI revolutionise art? For the moment, the history of art is much more than AI. Art is the cave paintings, dating back over 30,000 years. Art is in Egyptian tombs, in the Greek hills, and on Italian streets, and everywhere human beings are present. Art is part of us. And over time, a few inventions changed art forever, equipping artists with new possibilities. Below, I present my personal list of ‘inventions that revolutionised art’. Would you like to add anything to it?

Let’s be honest: students have a lot of different opinions about Artificial Intelligence. Some think it’s amazing. Some think it’s a little scary. Most of them? Well… they’re just trying to figure it out.

Who is Kaspar Hauser?
Depends on who asks. Some say he was a mysterious young man appeared nearby Nuremberg in Germany, claiming to have been raised in a total isolation from human beings.

I was 17, in high school, talking to this guy, the cool kid in the classroom, who told me about playing the guitar. “You should buy one and start playing”, he said. That was a leap of faith, that felt like a crazy, stupid idea. Yet, carried by his pure, contagious and intoxicating enthusiasm. I bought a guitar online.

Over the past few years, generative AI tools like Midjourney, DALL·E have rapidly entered the creative classroom. From primary school workshops to university design modules, students are now creating visual work by typing prompts into algorithms. A few seconds later, a polished image appears.

When writing or talking to an AI, it seems to understand us humans. But AI’s ability to process and generate human-like text does not happen magically. Behind every generative AI, whether a chatbot, a voice assistant, or a text generator, is a team of people working to teach it how to interpret, respond, and even predict human communication.

Technological evolution is changing the way teaching and learning take place. Teachers must adapt to this new scenario by integrating digital tools and leveraging the potential of artificial intelligence to enhance the educational experience.

I studied Literature at University at a time when semiotics and structuralism were dominant in de-constructing literary texts. There was a tendency in a department of literature to think of language as the fundamental way in which we understand the world. At its most extreme, some lecturers declared that the world is a text to be read.

As humans used to say: once upon a time, in the city of Filipona it was not allowed to carry colts so all the inhabitants of Filipona carried only empty holsters.
